I have not been outside in some time

I have not been outside in some time

I wonder if the sparrows still sing at dawn

I wonder if the rabbits beneath the deck are warm

I wonder which flowers braved the seasons and still bloom

Daylilies?

Asters?

Peonies?

I wonder how much it snowed

If it still rains

What kind of clouds texture the sky?

How aggressive are the winds

How far do the broken branches blow

I wonder if the neighbors are well

I wonder if silence still sounds the same

If the corn across the backyard still grows

I wonder if the strays have gotten plump

Or if they have grown far too thin

I wonder if the night is still heavy

And if the days are still weary

I wonder how you are

I hope you are well my friend
